Madelyn Halfacre - Ten Year Old Quarterback

The Rayen Neighborhood Homecoming event that took place last week featured an exhibit from the Eboy Lifeline Support Group, INC Sports museum honoring the late Frankie Halfacre. Included in the exhibit was a picture of Madelyn Halfacre, daughter of Frankie and his wife Mary Halfacre.

In 1966, Madelyn (age 10) was the first female football player on the local Northside Knights in Youngstown. She played the positions of quarterback, and as a linebacker had over 12 solo tackles in an all boys league. She was considered one of the best players, and won recognition from her teammates who voted her outstanding offensive player. She was even recognized nationally as an exceptional youth football player. Interestingly, her father Frankie Halfacre was in Ebony’s first group of honorees twenty three years ago.
